The NCR Ducati Racebike

Checking my RSS feed reader tonight I came across a post by the Canyon Chasers about an Italian company called NCR s.rl. that’s reworking Ducati bodywork styling and it appears mechanical features. Their first new bike appears to be based on a 1000DS engine with an underseat exhaust and some nifty styling cues… Pretty sweet looking…

From The NCR website…

Translation by Google:
The MILLONA is first plan NCR from when Poggipolini Group has found the historical brand from Bologna legacy from always to the Ducati world. Concept MILLONA resumes all the winning aspects of the motion of the past, lightness, manegevolezza, power and fort representative character and moves them. The parent company left just from these aspects, bench marks of every motion from competition, adding a determining factor: high technology. Elevated know-how and the experience of decades of collaborations in the fields of F1, Aerospace, Motorcycling and Automotive has unavoidablly contributed to giving life to an only copy, NCR MILLONA. Born for the competitions, but produced motion like an art object. Every copy in fact is produced entire by hand, on measure of the customer, highly personalizzabile and therefore prestigious. NCR wants to contraddistinguersi in the motorcycle world like “Atelier of motion”, the MILLONA for before the time in the NCR history belongs to one own production in series limited, indeed exclusive. Hour the new models of NCR MILLONA are available. All the motion will be numbered. NCR will give to its customers the possibility to personalize their motion but always leaving from one of the three models it begins them. Every customer will receive the special “NCR gift Box”.

Proof That Mankind Will Do Anything…

Every now and then you run across something on the web that just goes to prove that if something has an engine in it, mankind will find a way to screw with it… I don’t quite remember where I ran across this, but apparently someone has decided that after they bought a 999 that they really didn’t want all that plastic hanging around. Or maybe they just have had it with the sportbike look? So they’ve made their own monster… Pretty sure this voids the factory warrenty but what the hell do I know…

If someone posed the question ‘why?’ to whomever did this, the answer is bound to be because “I can”…Go figure.

Things That Make You Go Hummmm?

Every now and then you stumble across something on the ‘net that just makes you wonder. The sidecar manufacturer Club Praha is just such an item. One of those projects that only mankind would tackle and yet you’re left wondering why?

LBMC Show : Mark Savory’s MotoCreations Ride

I realized today that I completely forgot to mention that while we were at the CycleWorld International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, we got to check out Mark Savory’s MotoCreations Chopped Monster in person. It was part of the Ducati Monster Challenge - for whatever reason religated to the back of the arena. I’m still a bit unclear as to whether or not the bike was competiting or merely there to showcase what someone can do to a Monster. Of course Mark’s creation is not really a Monster. As I recall it has parts from several different Ducati models and his newest creation according to his website has a 996 motor in it…

Anyway, back to the bike… I don’t have the cash nor am I sure the bike suits my kind of riding, but it’s really quite cool to see in person. You’ve got to hand it to Mark and his crew, when you are up close, near the bike, it seems like some sort of very weird derivative of a bike you know and it’s vaguely familure but not at all what you’re expecting. It’s really easy to see why it’s getting so much attention. I was a bit surprised at how small it seemed - but then the entire Monster line seems smaller to me than I realized. Perhaps I’ve just gotten used to the size of the superbikes, but there’s not a lot of bike on these guys… Perhaps the most impressive part of Mark’s Chopped Monster was the raked out front forks, custom frame and really unique looking handlebars. Just very cool…

American Choppers meets Italian Muscle

While hanging out on the Ducati.ms board last night I stumbled in the Monster Chat area and found a blurb about Mark Savory’s “LA Show Bike” - a chopped Ducati Monster! Now granted I’m the biggest chopper guy out there, but this is one very cool looking motorcycle. Even though it looks like a the reminents of a Monster, in truth the bike is powered by a Ducati 900SS engine and has a number of 998 and 996 parts. The only stock Monster element is a front fender. Amazing. The frame, bodywork and most of the accessories are 100% custom…

Here’s a pict of his very sweet looking creation…

You can read more about Mark’s custom Monster ride on the Ducati Monster List and also on Motocreations.com, his custom motorcycle company website.

Both websites are well worth the read and have some pretty cool picts. Especially Motocreations which has a gallery with a whole bunch of Mark’s sketches on potential Ducati modified bikes and very clearly articulates how his designs have been influenced over time. I have no doubt that there’s a tv show in here somewhere…
