By now long time readers have probably noticed the serious decrease as of late in posts about actual riding adventures. I’d like to sit here and say that this is because I’ve been agonizing over numerous bike reviews or trackday experiences, but the reality is that neither is in fact the case.
Lately there simply hasn’t been much time for riding - and there’s an awfully good reason for it…
While it pains me to write that, the reality is that the business of business has kept me quite busy as of late. Which of course is a not so clever way of saying that a lot has been going on and I’ve had to clear the decks for this very particular afternoon.
And so it begins, in just a few hours I embark on yet another magical fantasy adventure. It is the quest of a lifetime - or at least thus far in my lifetime. As the uncertain fate of the creative world would have it, things have come together in a beautiful way which will lead me to the doorstep of the world’s greatest automotive companies.
It’s the ultimate gearhead odyssey, which will crisscross the European Continent in search of automotive excellence and ecstasy.
Over the course of the next month this journey will twist and turn its way through the very core of the world’s automotive history, stopping in three primary countries at ten of the most famed marques that span a hundred and twenty years of innovation, passion and excellence… From the invention of the world’s first automobile up to the greatest supercars of all time. It’s going to be a lot of traveling and a lot of work, but a lot of fun as well.
I’ve been quite mum about the project, as I tend to do with the things I’m working on, but with only a few hours to go before I depart it’s hard to keep a lid on it any longer. So while Twisting Asphalt is at its core a motorcycle riding blog, for the next month there’s going to be another set of wheels parked in the garage.
Well at least until we get to Northern Italy, hint hint…
