Now, I can get onboard with this one… Ducati USA is releasing 150 999S Replicas of the Parts Unlimited AMA Superbike. I’ve always liked the paint job/sticker kit on Bostrom & Hodgson’s bikes and it’s nice to finally see that not all replica bikes coming out of DNA have to be ‘R’ editions with $30 or $40k pricetags that are well out of the realm of reason. Doesn’t sound like there’s much different than the stock 999S configurations, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see on that one…
The 2007 Ducati 999s Team USA edition is powered by the 143 HP 999cc Testastretta motor and has a MSRP of $19,995. The motorcycle will be available for sale at Ducati dealers throughout North America beginning in August, 2006.

Just heard a rumor Ducati is pulling out of AMA Superbike??
Well… I suppose 150 well-heeled fans can have a lil’ memento. Maybe as consolation prize for not being able to score a D16RR this year…
Not sure I buy any rumor claiming that Ducati is going to pull out of the the largest racing association in the States. The American market is still their largest arena for sales and leaving the AMA series would no doubt only serve to reinforce the notion that Japanese bikes are currently superior on the racetrack. Pretty hard to sell $17,000 superbikes while supporting that kind of logic. That being said, I suspect any racing rumors right now are predicated on the fact that Ducati wants to increase their displacement from 1000cc’s to 1200cc’s or thereabouts and since the Japanese are against it there’s a tremendous amount of posturing going on.
what? don;t get it - a 999S replica is $19,995 while a regular 999S is $23,995 ?
Yeah, I read that this morning before the coffee kicked in and didn’t get it either. Maybe that means the ’07s are coming down in price??? Bizarre to say the least.
