What minivan can transport a bike?

5 October 2005 42 views 3 Comments

There’s both a fascinating and somewhat funny thread about “What minivan can transport a bike?” going on over at Speedzilla. Since I’m about to load up the Duc in a rented van I found it of interest… Worth the read regardless…

Does of course beg the question, at what point do you just say screw the mini-van and instead turn your attention to a full size van?

    At $3 per gallon!

I went down to Deal’s Gap (NC) one time from Michigan with a new Windstar. The reason for taking the vehicle was work-related as were were collecting VSC data, but the trip was all about vacation. At the time, I had a ‘93 900RR and I had to remove the windsreen. I got 25mpg and used it as my ‘tent’. It was awesome from the utilitarian standpoint. Carlike ride and economy, yet held all the goods needed for one trip, gear, parts, & tools.

You can fit a bike in a element.

I have transported 2 bikes in a standard length AeroStar. On the 748 I had to remove the bubble windscreen, my 93 SS rolled right in the back door.
    I miss that truck.
