Interesting Ducati Blurb in CW

9 February 2005 10 views No Comment

I’m sure I’m the last one to the party on this one, but there’s an interesting article in the news section of this months CycleWorld. On page 32 they have a bit about how Ducati Motors Holding is licensing the “Ducati Corsa” racing name to Ducati Corsa. In the few moments I’ve had as of late to surf the Ducati message boards it sounds like most folks believe this to be an doing of the Texas Pacific Group in order to get the company books straightened out in preperation for an eventual sale. This sure seems to add some credibility to the recent rumors that Ducati is or will soon be up for auction. I have to admit when I first read the column I did a bit of a double take - few companies seem so intertwined with their racing department as DMH. Makes you wonder how stupid TPG thinks potential investors/purchasers are - who would walk up and ignore the money spent on racing simply because it showed up on a different set of corporate books?
