Motogiro d’Italia

Last night after watching the total domination of Oklahoma by the ‘SC - Way to go Trojans! :) - I spent some time finishing Kevin Ash’s book, “Ducati People” and I have to say it’s a mavelous exploration of the folks behind the marque. I’m going to spend some time later to write something more meaningful but until then I thought I’d mention one small part of the book.

Kevin points out that after World Ducati Week - a semi anual Ducati rally in Italy - the other major event that the Ducati Factory is now heavily envolved with is The Motogiro d’Italia Historic Race in Italy. This isn’t your father’s “Concourse D’Elegance’ with famous motorcycles on display, instead it’s a real vintage race through the hills of Italy. Just about any fan can enter the lower “race” brackets, but the cavet is that the top bracket is for actual former racers on their vintage bikes. And in Italy, you know that the words ‘historic’ and ‘race’ don’t mean anyone’s taking it slow… If you’ve got some time it’s worth checking out the race’s main website as it’s got some interesting information about the race, breakdowns of the different classes and some nice picts. And while we’re on the subject of the Motogiro, I wanted to point out a small blurb over on The Ducati Los Angeles Blog which is run by a ProItalia employee named Lowell. He pointed out right before the holidays that Ducati has announced the dates and schedule for the event.
