It’s raining right now in LA and the long term forcast is for this to continue past this weekend. How wonderful. LA in the rain is akin to a low brow car crash derby video that’s consistently looping… Saw two accidents on my way home during my 5 minute, 3 stop light commute yesterday. I swear it seems physically impossible for that many cars to hit each other in such a short distance. And while I really do love LA, whomever designed the sewar system left something to be desired. No matter where you are it always seems like there’s more physical water than space for it. Walking the dog right now is just wonderful, wonderful fun…
In unrelated news, I thought I’d try to combine a few random tibits in to one short post. So here it goes… First off, I thought I’d give a shout out to Travis over at Motorcycle-Blog.com for pointing out a couple of really cool Deal’s Gap Websites. When I get some more time all the sites he mentions deserve some in-depth reviewing…
After a quick glance, Drag A Knee.com in particular seemed oddly familure since it appears very similar to TwistingAsphalt - only about the famed Deal’s Gap. Very cool and really worth checking out…
Another website that’s worth checking out is LA Blogs. I found my way there a few weeks ago and have been checking it out pretty regularly since then. It’s a collection of excerpts from several different pro-los angeles blogs which are written by a variety of people here in Southern California. Some are a bit obscure for me, but others offer some interesting insights and ideas for LA exploration. A really cool resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the hidden, super-cool LA that hasn’t been tainted by Ben Affleck styled over-exposure…
Next, I wanted to give a beginning of the new year nod to a new motorcycle website called Why Bike? The site is run by a fellow named James who is both a passionate motorcyclist and a graphic designer and writes that he was inspired to start his website by TwistingAsphalt. I never thought that anyone would read my blog, let alone be taken enoug by it to start their own… How cool is that? Good luck James and I’ll be stopping by to see what’s happening…
Moving on, we’ve had a few other comments on the website lately that I thought were cool. Over at the V-Storm forum (not sure if it’s a big one or not, have to look into that…) TwistingAsphalt got listed on a thread about good motorcycle blogs to read. It was also noted that I tend to write a lot about Ducati Motorcycles which I suspect I have to plead guilty to… But I thought getting brought up was pretty sweet!
Finally - and perhaps I’m burrying the lead, as I’ve been known to do on occasion - I wanted to point out the new recent comments list over on the top right side of the blog. Took me awhile to get my act together and get that back up and running like it was on the previous JohnstownCo. Website. Even cooler than just getting it up and running is that according to the little tell tale list, Michael Czysz of MotoCzysz dropped by to say thanks for the blog entries about his C1. I thought that was pretty cool.
