On the heels of the reading the CycleWorld article on American MotoGP upstart Motoczysz, I came across another American start-up sportbike company. The Roehr Motorcycle Company claims to have developed a sportbike named the RV1000 that puts out 120 horsepower at 9500 RPMs from a 4 valve DOHC V-Twin. Clearly this isn’t in the same league as Motoczysz as it appears that Roehrs intention is to simply create a high end consumer sportbike. If that’s the case, someone in Roehr’s design department needs to spend some more time tinkering… Based on the picts it look like Triumph’s Speed Tripple Division got ahold of a Ducati and mucked it up. Not my cup of tea…

I have read about Roehrich and he may have (in part) inspired Moto Czysz. Roehrich had made a 500 cc 2 stroke v-twin out of two, 125 cc 2 stroke engines. He used both cranks in his own casting.
Even though the twin-crank design is not new, this may have helped the czysz project. Either way, both gents deserve respect and encouragement to finally produce an American-made sport bike. Buells are cool, but there is room for many more…
