DVR’ed the first episode (Honda) and just watched it. It was great being able to watch it as it was meant – in HD.

A couple questions regarding the HD Theater broadcast of the Honda episode (I saw them last year online via Discovery Turbo).

    1) I surmise the interviews with Freddie Spencer, Nick Ienatsch, Hodgson and Duhamel filmed after the initial footage/production was done? I noticed what appear to be`08 CBR1000RRs(?) being run in a couple of sequences.

    2) In the subsequent episodes (Ducati, BMW, etc), I take it there will be some new or additional stuff that wasn’t available in the episodes on Discovery Turbo?

Again, great work and best wishes for continued success in your future projects. I can’t wait to see what you have in store with the NatGeo project.

    Cheers!

    Hey ya Anthony,

Great to hear you enjoyed the show — and you’ve got some eagle eye vision there ;)

To answer your questions; yes there were some ’08 CBRs in the Honda ep and the interviews with Freddie, Nick, Neil, etc. were in fact shot after the web portion of the project went online — we felt for the broadcast version it would simply be more powerful, and more enjoyable, for the audience to hear from the folks who’ve been there and done it… So in upcoming eps you see more Ienatsch & Hoyer, along with Rainey, Schwantz, Mladin, Hacking, Bostrom, Mitch Boehm, Mark Tuttle & Clement Salvadori from Rider Magazine, Reg Pridmore, etc. Basically everybody we could get our hands on ;)

Like the Honda hour, all of the subsequent episodes are built on the foundation of the web portion of the project, but all of them also include new material and/or material that we couldn’t fit into the online films. Particularly when it comes to Historical film & video – one of the things we heard loud and clear from the reaction to the web films was that people wanted to see more of the historical stuff – So for example in Suzuki we got our hands on some awesome footage from the very first Mt. Asama Volcano Race, LeMans, Isle of Mann, etc…. Personally, for me at least, it was a lot of material I’d never seen before — only read about…

    Cheers,
    D

    Thanks for the info!

One last question: Perhaps this is a bit premature but any info on whether or not it will be available on DVD?

    Hey ya Anthony,

Don’t know about DVDs at the moment, that’s not something we have a say in, but historically Discovery puts series to disc eventually… Whenever we hear anything about it, I’ll post something online :)
