A 10 Day Countdown Begins…
This morning I find myself a tad anxious, far to excited, and filled with crazy kind of anticipation because in a mere 10 days I can finally start riding again. To be honest I’m not sure that I’ve ever been off the bike this long since I first started riding. It seems like months since I last ventured out on two wheels and it has been. My last ride according to the tell-tale-blog was on December 9th. That seems like eons ago at this point.
It’s certainly been a crazy and amazing start to the 2007. Five weeks ago today I went under the knife for my third sinus surgery. I suppose we all have our cruxes in life, mine apparently is and probably always will be a horrendous set of sinus cavities. This go around was a bit different then my last two trips to the surgical center – instead of just merely cleaning the inner portions of my head out – what the guys and I lovingly refer to as being ‘roto-rootered’ – this time the Doc took the extra step of moving some bones around, hence the big lay off from the bike. (If you’re the blood and guts type and want a more in-depth explanation of what the Doc did - don’t bother. I never asked. My sinuses were mucked up, I went in, the Doc said they needed to be worked on and that was all I needed to hear – I had and still have no desire to hear about the intricacies involved)…
Apparently having your face bopped by a helmet is not such a hot idea after such an ordeal, at least for six weeks or so according to the Doc. While being off the bike has been no fun whatsoever, the good news is that I can breath again and my head cold is finally gone. It’s remarkable to be able to smell things again, like flowers, the whiff of perfume on a women and yes, single malts. So while recovery hasn’t been the most joyous thing to go through the results seem worthwhile…

As someone who has been a temporary mouth breather because my sinuses slammed shut and having occaisional sleep apnea, I feel your pain mang. Glad to year you’ll be riding the Duc soon. Any arrival news on your 1098S? I’ve read a couple reviews on the 1098 forum but looking forward to your well-informed perspective and superb photography!
