Ducati unveils the ’06 Desmosedici

Yesterday Ducati unveiled the new Desomosedici GP06 at the annual MotoGP Press Ski Meeting in Madonna di Campiglio in Northern Italy.

Just like last year, the Ducati boys took some marvelous picts of riders Loris Capirossi and Sete Gibernau with the bike.

Claudio Domenicali was quoted in the Ducati Press Release as saying,

Racing in MotoGP allows us to operate with machines that are pure prototypes, developing technology that will subequently be transferred to our production bikes…

You can read more about the unveiling at
Second Day on The Snows of Madonna at the Ducati.com website.

Sete also had some interesting stuff to say based on what Superbike Planet is reporting.

“Being in a team which is 100% behind me, with the ambitions, the means and the enthusiasm to produce good results, ” declared Gibernau on greeting the press at Wroom 2006. “Every day that goes by I feel better in the team and I am sure that it will be an entertaining season, full of satisfaction and that I will be capable of repaying the trust that has been put in me”.

“It’s going to be a difficult year, because every year MotoGP becomes more and more difficult and competitive, but I’m not afraid of the job ahead as I know exactly what was missing last year and what I need to do this season to get good results. The potential is there, day after day I’m more and more convinced of that, and I can only look ahead with optimism. In a few days time we’ll be leaving for the tests but after the first laps I completed in November on the Desmosedici, I could see that it was a great bike, albeit completely different to what I had ridden before. Add to this a great team and a company that has always made racing its philosophy and I am sure that I have made the right decision.”

You can also find a whole bunch of close up photos on the MotoBlog.it announcement of the bike.
